Globalization

Global Communication is the ability to provide and access information across the world and has had a huge impact on many things. Global Communications has changed in many ways throughout the past ten years which has effected globalization. Global Communication has done so through business, technology and culture.
First, the business world is constantly changing.  Businessmen and women are always working towards making a bigger profit and they can do this by making new products.  Globalization helps companies to reach a larger target market.  They are also able to improve their products by obtaining new resources from around the world.  Company communication has also changed in the past ten years.  The internet makes it possible for companies to hold conferences from one place in the world to another and by doing so companies are able to complete tasks faster.
Global communication has influenced globalization immensly by helping people from all of the corners of the Earth share information.  The information they share can include their history and traditions.  Cultures influence each other.  For example, countries who previously did not have internet access do now.  They are able to communicate with people from other cultures.  Since people are becoming more familiar with other cultures they are starting to be more open to learning new ideas and are gaining a new perspective that had not been available to them in the past.
Technology is always changing and has been evolving fairly quickly over the past ten years.  Communication has been made easier by global communication.  Email allows people to have conversations without having to wait for a letter to arrive in the mail.  Email is more reliable because it is sent directly to the recepient and cannot be lost by someone along the way.  Skype makes it available for people to see each others face while they are having a conversation from anywhere in the world.  Blogs are also a tool that give people the opportunity to share information.  Technology has also helped the medical field.  Doctors are able to comlete more field study.  By doing so they are obtaining new resources and methods of study.  They have also been able to become more advanced by communicating and sharing ideas to improve the medical field.
In conclusion, global communication has promoted globalization immensely in the past ten years.   Globalization will continue to further well into the future, especially concerning business, culture and technology.  Businesses are able to grow faster and become more effecient.  Culture is being shared and people are becoming more open to new ideas.  Technology is helping families and friends communicate around the world.  Globalization is a worldwide movement for opening out beyond local perspectives that will continue to revolutionize.

Writing a Thesis Statement

A thesis is a short passage -- usually only a single sentence -- summarizing the fundamental argument of an essay or report. Typically the thesis statement will appear near the end of your introductory paragraph.

A thesis statement:
- Is an assertion, not a statement of fact or observation.

         Example:
Fact or observation:  A lot people are scared of flying.
Thesis:  A lot of people are scared of flying due to fear of the plane crashing.
- Takes a stand rather than announcing a subject.

-Is a road map for the paper

- A thesis is the main idea, not the title. It must be a complete sentence that explains in some detail what you expect to write about.

         Example:
         Title: The popularity of tennis.
Thesis: Tennis has been gaining popularity in the past few years due to courts being built in more towns by grants.

-A thesis statement has one main point rather than several main points. More than one point may be too difficult for the reader to understand and the writer to support.

Tips for writing a thesis statement
1. Determine what kind of paper you are writing.
2. Should be specific
3. Your topic may change as you write

Marginal corrections to my story-in-a-box

Photography has always been a passion of Sally’s. She has traveled to the ends of the earth to take unique pictures. Her next assignment is in Greece. While she is there her goal is not only to take pictures but to bring home many exceptional souvenirs.

After a long plane ride, Sally heads to the airport’s gift shop where she finds an assortment of locally made dishes. She finds a unique plate that would be perfect for her sister. Her next stop is to join a group of photographers at a very old village on the side of a huge mountain. While she is there, Sally stays in a one of a kind house. The house has a lot of character with two stories and a balcony with an amazing view.

Next, Sally adventures to Kalamaria where she hopes to take many pictures of the people in their day to day lives. It is very cold in Kalamaria so Sally decides to buy a velvet blanket to keep her warm. While she was there she tried many new foods. Sally’s favorite were the locally grown chest nuts that were sold in little glass jars.

Later on during her trip, Sally decided to go to a flea market in hopes of finding some souvenirs. The first thing that catches her eye are two statues. She likes the statue that is painted because the person is holding a drum. The second statue is of a person made of dark smooth wood and is clothed in robes. Sally decides to buy both of the statues for her parents. After walking around the flea market for several hours Sally comes across an assortment of stamps. She is drawn to the one that has a dragon on the top. Since Sally spent a lot of money at the market she decided to go site seeing. While she was walking she came across a little girl with blue eyes and olive color skin. She was caring a ruler on her way to school. Running after the girl was a little boy who was caring a wallet that the little girl must have left behind.

Sally really enjoyed her time in Greece and found many amazing souvenirs. She took many pictures that will be published and. Sally hopes there are many more trips in the future.

Story in a box

There are many places that Sally would like to visit.  Some of them are very far away while others are fairly close to her home.  She recently got a job photographing the beautiful country of Greece.  Sally is very excited because this will be her first time going there.
When Sally steps off the plane she heads to the air port gift shop where she finds a little plate, which she buys to give her sister because of its unique design.   After that, Sally meets some other photographers to take pictures of a very old village on the side of the mountain.  She is fascinated with one house in particular, it has two stories and a balcony.  However her favorite part about the house is the donkey in the front walkway.
Next, Sally heads to Kalamaria where she hopes to take many pictures of the people in their day to day lives.  It is very cold in Kalamaria so Sally decides to buy a velvet blanket to keep her warm.  After taking many pictures, Sally decides to get something to eat.  A friend suggests that she tries these nuts that are very popular in the area.  The nuts were served in a glass jar that had a cork top.
On the second day of her trip Sally decided to go to a flea market.  She is very interested in how different cultures decorate their houses.  The first thing that catches her eye are two statues.  She likes the statue that is one sided and is painted because the person is holding a drum.  The second statue is of a person made of dark smooth wood and is clothed in robes.  Sally decides to buy both of the statues for her parents.  After walking around the flea market for several hours Sally comes across an assortment of stamps.  She is drawn to the one that has a dragon on the top.

Sally really enjoyed her time in Greece.  She took many pictures that will be published.  She hopes that there are many more trips in the future.
